Analysis of animal bones

Development of methods for the analyses of animal bones. A project was recently initiated for estimating prey body-size as a tool to investigate the scale of paleoenvironmental change and the process of animal domestication in Israel. In this research program we will be 3-D scanning and analyzing archaeological animal bones. The 3-D scans will allow quantitative analysis of bone shape using algorithms that will provide data on past body-size change in animals (collaborating with Prof. Natalie Munro, U. of Connecticut).
